Game Preview: Battle for first place at The Aud
Kitchener, ON – Kitchener extended their win streak to four games on Friday night in a 4-0 win against the fourth-place Peterborough Petes. Over the Years:
The Rangers and Greyhounds have faced off 21 times over the past five years which has resulted in a Rangers record of 7-13-1-0. However, last season the Rangers won the season series 3-1-0-0. The two clubs last met on February 26th at The Aud where the Rangers came out with a 3-0 victory. Current Rangers Simon Motew and Carson Rehkopf (Seattle Kraken) both recorded an assist.
Special Teams:
The Soo is ranked fifth in the league’s power play rankings converting at 23.2% but when on the road the Greyhounds powerplay drops to eighth place at 24.4%. The Rangers follow behind at seventh in the league power play converting at 23.1% while they own the league’s fourth-best penalty kill at 84.5% and when playing at home they jump to second at 90.3%. The Greyhounds are currently placed third in the league’s penalty kill at 87.3%.

Last Time Out:
In a big win at home hosting the reigning OHL champions the Peterborough Petes on Friday night Adrian Misaljevic scored the first two goals of the game. Matthew Sop and Hunter Brzustewicz (Vancouver Canucks) registered two assists each in the game and Jackson Parsons recorded his second shutout in a row and fourth of the season.
Rangers to Watch:
- Carson Rehkopf (Seattle Kraken) leads the OHL in points (32), goals (18), and game-winning goals (4).
- Hunter Brzustewicz (Vancouver Canucks) is tied with teammate Matthew Sop for second most points in the league with 30. Brzustewicz also leads the OHL in assists with 25.
- Jackson Parsons has stood on his head in his first 13 games played this season. He leads the league goaltenders in shutouts (4) and is tied for most wins (9). Parsons has recorded a .924 save percentage and 2.27 goals against average.
Tomáš Hamara to the Brantford Bulldogs
Tomáš Hamara was traded on Saturday, November 11 to the Brantford Bulldogs. The Ottawa Senators prospect registered three assists in the first 18 games of the season with Kitchener. In return, the Rangers have received Owen Sound’s third-round pick in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection along with Brantford’s fourth-round pick in the 2027 OHL Priority Selection.
Cameron Reid is Golden
Cameron Reid’s Canada White team won the gold medal on Saturday, defeating Team USA 2-1 in overtime at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge on Prince Edward Island. Reid registered one goal and one assist in the tournament. Luca Romano and Team Canada Red finished fifth place and he also recorded one goal and one assist throughout the tournament.

Last Time Out:
The Soo traveled to Niagara to face the IceDogs where they beat them 5-4 in regulation. Connor Clattenburg scored two important goals in the game and Marco Mignosa tallied two assists.
Greyhounds to Watch:
- Jack Beck leads the Greyhounds with 21 points (6G, 25A) in 18 games. Beck was drafted by the Calgary Flames in the sixth round, 168th overall in 2021. In the last three games he has collected a goal a game in the past two games.
- On the blueline Arttu Karki (Vegas Golden Knights) is in a four-way tie for second in goals in the league. He is also second on the Greyhounds in points with 18 points.
- Bryce McConnell-Barker (New York Rangers) has collected 16 points (5G, 11A) in 18 games. McConnell-Barker has grabbed eight of those points (2G, 6A) in the last five games, putting him on a six-game point streak.

Sunday’s contest vs the Soo Greyhounds will be televised live throughout Kitchener and the Waterloo Region on Rogers TV, cable channel 20, and can be watched across the province of Ontario on the Super Sports Pak on channel 470 for cable subscribers. The game will be streamed live online on OHL Live on CHL TV. Additionally, fans can listen to Sunday matinee action on the radio on CityNews 570 AM CKGL.
