Sarnia Sting vs. Kitchener Rangers
1) Tonight marks the second of four meetings between the Sting and Rangers this season, and the first at the Aud. The Rangers picked up a convincing 6-3 win in Sarnia on October 22nd.
2) The Sting (10-5-2-0) are undefeated in regulation in their last three games. They are 4-3-1-0 on the road in eight games this season. The Rangers (13-1-3-0) just saw an eleven game win streak halted at the hands of the Kingston Frontenacs, 5-3, on Saturday night. The Blueshirts are 6-0-2-0 on home ice to start the season.
3) The Rangers have given up the lowest number of goals in the Ontario Hockey League (41), two fewer than the Eastern Conference’s Barrie Colts.
4) The Rangers have opened the scoring in every game but two so far this season (15 of 17).
5) Rangers Mason Kohn is on a five-game point streak, scoring four goals and three assists for seven points in that span. Sarnia’s Jeff King and Pavel Zacha are both on three game point streaks with a goal and two assists, apiece.
6) Kitchener’s Ryan MacInnis is tied for the second most goals scored in the OHL heading into tonight’s game (12). Erie’s Alex DeBrincat leads the league with 22.
7) Rangers left winger Darby Llewellyn is two points away from 100 career OHL points (55G, 43A).
8) Rangers Ryan MacInnis has the sole lead in OHL game winning goals with five. Sting rookie Sasha Chmelevski is tied for third in the league with three.
9) Rangers defenceman Brian Brosnan maintains sole possession of the best plus/minus in the OHL with a plus-25.
10) Rangers Gustaf Franzen leads his team with 212 faceoff wins in 386 draws taken. His win percentage is 0.549.
11) The Sting’s Brandon Lindberg (Waterloo), Chase Campbell (Waterloo) and Alex Black (Kitchener) are all local products.
12) In their most recent game, a 3-1 win over the Saginaw Spirit on Sunday, November 8th, the Sting outshot the Spirit 19-2 in the first period.
