FINAL: Rangers 5, Spirit 4
The Kitchener Rangers headed south of the border to face off against the Saginaw Spirit. The Rangers were looking to get back in the win column.
Three minutes into the game, Saginaw opened the scoring and jumped out to the 1-0 lead. Saginaw scored again to make it 2-0. Less than a minute later, Saginaw capitalized on an unlucky bounce to give them a 3-0 lead at the midway point of the period. The Rangers looked to start generating offense in the 2nd period.
The Rangers began the period on a two-man advantage, where Joseph Serpa scored, making it 3-1. The goal gave the Rangers momentum, as they began to apply relentless pressure on Saginaw. Just before the halfway point of the game, the Rangers were given another powerplay opportunity but could not beat Saginaw’s goaltender. Despite good pressure, Saginaw scored to extend their lead to 4-1. With just under two minutes remaining, Mike Petizian scored off a one-timer on the powerplay, making it a 4-2 game.
Francesco Pinelli started things off in the 3rd, scoring five-hole and bringing the Rangers within one goal, 4-3. With six minutes remaining in the game, Mike Petizian scored his second goal of the game, tying the game at 4-4. With two minutes left, Francesco Pinelli scores his second goal off a rebound to give the Rangers the 5-4 lead.
The Rangers got a big two points with the victory over Saginaw and looked to carry that over into their next game.
