Carson Rehkopf signs with Seattle Kraken
Kitchener, ON – The Seattle Kraken announced on Sunday, April 21st that they have signed Carson Rehkopf to a three-year entry-level contract. Rehkopf was drafted by the Kraken in the 2023 NHL Draft in the second round, 50th overall.
The Rangers forward had a career year with the Rangers putting up an impressive 52 goals, and 95 points. Rehkopf fittingly became the 16th player in franchise history to hit the 50-goal mark in a single season. Rehkopf’s performance this season earned him his team’s nomination for the Red Tilson Trophy, which is given annually each season to the OHL’s Most Outstanding Player. After his third season with the Blueshirts, his career OHL point total now amounts to 100 goals and 87 assists in 193 games played.
The 6-foot-3 Barrie, ON native represented Canada at the IIHF World Junior Championship this winter in Sweden where he registered two goals and two assists in five games at the tournament. Previously, he dawned the maple leaf at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup with the Under-18 Canadian National Team in 2022-23 and the forward went a point a game with one goal and four assists.
The three-year, two-way contract ($950,000 AAV) is set to begin next season, and he is expected to report to Seattle’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Coachella Valley Firebirds, on an amateur tryout contract for the remainder of the season.
