Brandon, Manitoba The Western Hockey League’s Brandon Wheat Kings are pleased to announce that the 2006 CKLQ Sportsman’s Dinner, scheduled for Saturday, February 4th in the Keystone Centre’s UCT Pavillion is SOLD OUT.r

The event, which is held annually to raise money for the hockey club’s Scholarship Fund may be a month away, but the defending WHL Eastern Conference Champions have sold well over 600 tickets.r

Next month’s Dinner will feature Dennis Hull, comedian Ron James and former Wheat Kings’ captain Kevin Cheveldayoff. A former first round draft choice of the National Hockey League’s New York Islanders, Cheveldayoff currently serves as general manager of the American Hockey League’s Chicago Wolves.r

On the ice, the Wheat Kings kick off a mini 2-game home stand Wednesday night against Brent Sutter’s Red Deer Rebels. Game time is at 7 p.m. and tickets are on sale now at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling 726-3555 or on line at ticketmaster.car

In addition to his duties with the Rebels, Sutter led Team Canada to its second consecutive gold medal at the 2006 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Vancouver. r

The Wheat Kings will close out the home stand on Friday against Dustin Boyd and the Moose Jaw Warriors.r
