Knights graduate Corey Perry plays 1000th NHL game

It was a big night for Corey Perry on Wednesday as the London Knights graduate became the 340th player in NHL history to suit up in his 1,000th career regular season NHL game.

A 34-year-old native of Peterborough, Ont., Perry played the first 988 games of his NHL career with the Anaheim Ducks who selected him in the first round (28th overall) of the 2003 NHL Draft. He joined the Dallas Stars as a free agent this past summer, lacing them up with his new club for the past 12 contests to reach the millennium.

Perry has enjoyed a productive pro career, registering 780 points (374-406–780) while appearing in an additional 118 career playoff games where he won a Stanley Cup with the Ducks in 2007.

The 6-foot-3, 205Ib. winger’s success hasn’t been limited to the NHL. He joins Scott Niedermayer as just the second player in the history of the game to win a Stanley Cup (2007), Olympic Gold (2010, 2014), World Championship Gold (2016), World Junior Gold (2005) and a Memorial Cup (2005).

A former Red Tilson Trophy winner as OHL MVP in 2004-05, Perry racked up a Knights franchise record 380 points (140-240–380) over his 253 career OHL regular season contests. He guided the team to an OHL Championship and Memorial Cup crown in 2005 as the centrepiece of the team recently voted the best in CHL history.
