KNIGHTS COMPLETE SWEEP OF HOME & HOME WITH ATTACK
The first two goals of Sam Miletic’s OHL career led the London Knights to a 4-1 win over the Attack in Owen Sound on Saturday. It was London’s third win in a row.
Miletic opened the scoring with his first ever OHL goal. Knights’ forward Jack Hidi pushed a puck to the side of the Attack net and Miletic got a stick on the puck and squeezed it through the pads of Michael McNiven as he was being knocked to the ice.
Miletic made it 2-0 early in the second period as Victor Mete stole a puck in front of the London net and fed it forward to Miletic and he raced inside the Owen Sound blue line and snapped the puck past McNiven on the stick side.
After 13 saves from Brendan Burke in his first start as a London Knight, the Attack finally beat him on the power play as Burke made a save in front, only to have the puck pop up in the air. It was batted in by Liam Dunda and London’s lead was cut to 2-1.
Mitch Marner extended his point streak to 15 games on the power play at 15:09 of the second as he got the puck on the right side of the Attack zone, looked at the net and wired a wrist shot off the post and to make it 3-1 Knights.
Miletic was given a five minute major and a game misconduct in the third period, after he carried the puck down the left wing side and cut to the net, he went flying over McNiven and was called for
London killed all five minutes and then scored on a power play of their own. Christian Dvorak rung up his 20th goal of the season to finish the scoring in the game.
Burke earned his first OHL victory, making 25 saves.
The Knights go through a very quick turnaround as they head for Windsor on Sunday for a two o’clock game against the Spitfires. Like London, Windsor will also be playing their third game in two and a half days. Broadcast time on NewsTalk 1290 is 1:30.
