JONES COMMITS TO KNIGHTS
General Manager Basil McRae announced today that the London Knights 1st round (18th overall) pick in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection, Max Jones, has committed to and entered into an Ontario Hockey League Standard Player’s Agreement with the London Knights.
Jones, a competitive power forward with both skill and speed, played in the US National Development Program with the US National U17 Team last season. In 38 games played, the 6’2” 195lbs winger contributed 28 points (18 goals, 10 assists) and 189 PIMs. With that team, he competed at the U17 Five Nations Tournament in Russia where he tied for team best with two goals in four games, helping the team win silver at the tournament.
Last fall, Jones competed for Team USA at the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Sarnia and Lambton Shores, Ontario. Not only did he help Team USA claim silver, but he was named to the All-Tournament Team after leading Team USA with seven goals in the tournament. He finished the championship second in scoring on Team USA with 11 points in six games played.
Jones will join the London Knights in late August for training camp and will wear #49 for the team next season. He’s eligible for the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
