KNIGHTS HOST FIREBIRDS IN HOME OPENER
The London Knights begin their highly anticipated 2024-25 OHL season tonight at Budweiser Gardens, facing the Flint Firebirds. After an undefeated preseason, the Knights are eager to continue that momentum into the regular season.
Scouting the Knights (Preseason: 4-0-0)
The Knights begin their quest to repeat as OHL Champions and make it back to the Memorial Cup with a large amount of last year’s group still intact. After sending 17 players off to NHL training camps, they’ll begin the season without a number of key players who are still away with their respective clubs. The Knights will be led by the likes of veterans like Jacob Julien and Owen Willmore while new faces like Jesse Nurmi will make their OHL debut.
Denver Barkey, Oliver Bonk, Easton Cowan, Sam Dickinson, Kasper Halttunen, Sam O’Reilly, and Landon Sim are those away at camps and will not be in the lineup.
Flint Firebirds (Preseason: 1-2-0)
The Flint Firebirds enter this season after suffering a first round four game sweep at the hands of the Knights in April. The Firebirds said goodbye to stand out defenceman Tristan Bertucci by way of trade to the Barrie Colts but welcomed experienced veterans Chris Thibodeau and Matthew Mania.
Puck drop is set for 7:00 PM at Budweiser Gardens, where the Knights will raise their 2023/24 OHL Championship banner and begin their title defense.
