Jack Studnicka named Assistant Captain
St. Catharines, Ontario – The Niagara IceDogs have announced that Jack Studnicka has been named an Assistant Captain. Studnicka was a first round draft selection (21st overall) to the Oshawa Generals, and a 2nd round selection to the Boston Bruins in the 2017 NHL Draft. He was acquired by the IceDogs in a trade completed on January 8th, 2019.
“Jack is one of the most detailed players in the league and he carries himself like a pro at practice and away from the rink. He is a natural leader and even though he has only been here a few weeks, he completely embodies what it means to be an IceDog.” Said Head Coach Billy Burke. “The strength of this team is the character of our players. Jack will do a great job along with Ben, Akil and Jon in leading our group on hopefully a long run.”
In 9 games played as an IceDog, Studnicka has 7 goals, and 8 assists (15 points), including a hat-trick on January 19th. Studnicka was previously the captain of the Oshawa Generals for a season and a half, prior to the trade.
The entire Niagara IceDogs organization would like to congratulate Jack, and look forward to what’s to come as the season progresses.
