Dogs fall to Petes
NIAGARA, ON – The IceDogs faced a formidable Petes team in front of 4,285 on a snowy Friday Night at the Meridian Centre. A big performance from Owen Flores stopping 60 shots was not enough to overcome a Peterborough team littered with NHL drafted talent. Niagara held the Petes in check with the man advantage going 0/3, but the visitors took this one by a 6-0 score.
Starting Goaltenders: Owen Flores (NIAG), Liam Sztuska (PBO)
The visitors would open the scoring as a backhand by Brennan Othmann would beat Flores. The Petes would add another late in the period with a shorthanded goal. Niagara were limiting Peterborough’s high-end shooting opportunities but were down going into the break.
Visitors would score before the midway mark of the middle period as Tucker Robertson potted in his 33rd of the season which would be the only scoring of the frame. The Visitors would make it a six-goal advantage in the final period and shut it down with a perfect road game by a veteran club, skating with seven NHL drafted players on the ice.
The IceDogs finish off their homestand and will go on a northern road trip this weekend, travelling to Sudbury and North Bay for back-to-back Central Division matchups.
