Ritchie earned invite to Hockey Canada’s National Junior Summer Meetings
Oshawa, ON– Hockey Canada announced today that Oshawa Generals forward Calum Ritchie has taken part in Hockey Canada’s National Junior Team summer meetings. This was the first step in making the final roster of players who will compete in December at the World Junior Championships held in Gothenburg, Swe.
Ritchie attended the 2023 Avalanche development camp and participated in off-ice activities.
Internationally, Ritchie has played for Canada’s National Men’s Under-18 Team, winning bronze at the 2023 IIHF U18 World Championship in Switzerland. At the tournament, Ritchie finished with three goals and six assists in seven games. He also played for Team Canada Black at the 2021 Capital City Challenge (replacing the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge for one year), scoring five goals and six assists in just five games.
The National Junior Team summer meetings took place over three days and will include conversations on topics such as education on the Program of Excellence, Sport Safety presentations, short-term international competition preparation and meetings with the Hockey Canada management group. The discussions allowed participants to continue to evolve as high-performance athletes and utilize the strengths and experience of the Program of Excellence’s leadership
