Round 3 Game 1: Oshawa and North Bay begin Eastern Conference Finals at the TCC
Oshawa, Ont. – The Oshawa Generals return home to take on the North Bay Battalion in Game One of the Eastern Conference Finals.
For the first time since the 2019 season, the Gens have made it to the Conference Finals. Oshawa battled in Round One to take down the Barrie Colts in six games and then in the Second Round they swept the Ottawa 67’s.
North Bay has made their return to the Eastern Conference Finals for the third year in a row. The Battalion have only lost one game so far on their postseason, taking down the Kingston Frontenacs in five games before sweeping the Sudbury Wolves in Round Two.
Last Meeting
It was New Year’s Eve when these two teams last faced off against one another and it was the Oshawa Generals beating the North Bay Battalion 4-3 in overtime.
The Battalion got things started early in the first period, but just over two minutes later, Oshawa would respond through Stuart Rolofs. Then it was Beckett Sennecke scoring 36 seconds later to give the Generals the lead.
After a scoreless second period, North Bay would score in the first minute of the third to tie the game at 2-2. Late in the third, the Battalion would strike again to take the lead, but with 1:18 to go in the game, Dylan Roobroeck would level the score.
Roobroeck would play hero in overtime for the Gens taking a feed from Luca D’Amato before finding the back of the net and sending the fans home.
Player to Watch (Oshawa)
Dylan Roobroeck: The Oshawa Generals’ big man is tied for the league lead in points with 16 including seven goals and nine assists. Roobroeck has featured on a line with Beckett Sennecke and Calum Ritchie that has combined for 44 points this postseason.
Player to Watch (North Bay)
Dalyn Wakely: The North Bay Battalion’s forward sits one point off the league lead in points this postseason, but he currently leads the goals category sitting four goals ahead of Roobroeck with 11.
