Round 1 Game 1: Gens fall short to Colts
Oshawa, Ont., – The Oshawa Generals dropped game one to the Barrie Colts as they fell 4-2 snapping their 12-game win streak.
Beckett Sennecke and Dylan Roobroeck each had a goal in the loss while Calum Ritchie picked up an assist on each goal. It was Jacob Oster in net for this one and the Gens netminder stopped 29 of the 32 shots he faced.
It was the Colts getting on the board first in this one when Kyle Morey carried the puck out of the corner taking a shot that created a rebound for Shamar Moses who lifted a backhand over Oster for a 1-0 Barrie lead.
In the last minute of the second, the Colts would add another this time it was Tai York skating out of the corner making a nice pass to Cole Beaudoin for an easy tap-in to make it 2-0 Barrie.
In the first minute of the third Barrie would strike again as a long stretch pass took a friendly bounce off a linesman falling to Michael Derbridge who found Zach Wigle streaking to the net making it 3-0 Colts.
Halfway through the third period, the Gens would find the back of the net on the powerplay when Calum Ritchie found Beckett Sennecke for a one-timer that he blasted past Sam Hillebrandt cutting the lead to 3-1.
With two minutes to go in the game and with net, the Generals would get another when they worked the puck to the point and it was Dylan Roobroeck hammering a slapshot straight through traffic cutting the score to 3-2 Colts.
The Barrie Colts put the game to rest with seven seconds to go as Beau Jelsma beat out an icing before sliding the puck into the empty net.
