Round 3 Game 5: Generals fall to Battalion in double overtime and push to Game Six
Oshawa, Ont., – The Oshawa Generals fall 5-4 in double overtime to the North Bay Battalion as the Eastern Conference Finals is now 3-2 Gens.
Oshawa got three goals from defencemen including a first OHL goal from Lucas Rodriguez, and Jacob Oster was in net as he stopped 42 of the 47 shots he faced.
It was Oshawa getting on the scoreboard as Rodriguez scored his first OHL goal, turning and firing a dump-in that somehow found the top corner giving the Gens a 1-0 lead.
The Battalion responded with a pair of goals from Anthony Romani as North Bay was able to jump in front 2-1.
The third period started with Luca Marrelli firing a shot that beat Mike McIvor tying the game at 2-2, then it was another defenceman Luca D’Amato with a shot that found the back of the net giving Oshawa a 3-2 lead.
Less than one minute later North Bay had an answer once again, this time it was Justin Ertel beating an icing before burying the game-tying goal.
Oshawa would jump in front once again as Owen Griffin made a nice pass to find Luke Torrance who was looking at an empty net making no mistake to give the Gens a lead.
It was all for not as 19 seconds later Ty Nelson scored to tie things up and then in double overtime Nelson struck again to win the game.
Game Six will be held Sunday, May 5th at the North Bay Memorial Gardens at 2:00 p.m.
