Weekend Preview – March 15, 16, 19 & 20

The Colts wrap up their regular season with a busy week, playing 4 games in 6 days. The Colts will be in Peterborough Tuesday night followed by a game in Ottawa against the 67’s Wednesday evening. After a few days off, the team returns to Barrie for their last home game of the season playing host to the Sudbury Wolves before wrapping up their season Sunday afternoon in North Bay.

Last Friday was a busy night for the team as they not only clinched the Central Division with a 7-3 win over Sudbury but Kevin Labanc broke Sheldon Keefe’s single second point record with an assist in the first. Labanc continues to lead the OHL with 124 points, 6 more than London’s Christian Dvorak. 

Tuesday, March 15th @ Peterborough Petes

• The Colts and Petes will square off for the second time in four night when the two clash in Peterborough tonight
• Barrie beat Peterborough 5-2 on Saturday. The Colts scored three short-handed goals in the game, including two from Andrew Mangiapane who recorded his 50^th goal and his second straight 100 point season
• The Petes are 31-27-2-5 with 68 points. They are currently 4^th in the East Division and 6^th in the Eastern Conference. Petes’ PP is ranked 18^th at 14.7% and their PK is ranked last at 74.8%.
• Hunter Garlent leads Peterborough in points with 82 (38 goals and 44 assists), good for 12^th in OHL scoring
• Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Dominik Masin leads all Peterborough defencemen with 9 points and is a team leading +27
• Defenceman Nick Grima leads Peterborough’s rookies in scoring with 2 goals and 8 assists in 42 games

Wednesday, March 16th @ Ottawa 67’s

• Following Tuesday night’s game in Peterborough, the team will make their way to the nation’s capital to take on the Ottawa 67’s. This is the fourth meeting between them with the Colts leading the season series 2-1
• Their last game took place on March 3^rd with the Colts taking it 6-2. Michael Webster and Anthony Stefano each scored twice while Kevin Labanc recorded 4 assists
• Ottawa has a record of 33-29-2-1 with 68 points. They currently sit 3^rd in the East Division and 5^th in the Eastern Conference. The 67’s PP is ranked 11^th at 19.3% and their PK is ranked 14^th at 78.9%
• Dante Salituro leads Ottawa with 36 goals, 44 assists and 80 points, which ranks 14^th in OHL scoring
• Stepan Falkovsky leads all 67’s defencemen with 30 points in 55 games and is a team leading +13
• Guelph, Ontario native Austen Keating is Ottawa’s leading rookie posting 13 goals and 17 assists in 47 games

Saturday, March 19th vs. Sudbury Wolves

• Saturday marks the team’s final regular season home game as they face off against the Sudbury Wolves. The Colts look to sweep the season series against the Wolves as they have won all 7 games between the two
• Their last game took place the previous Friday in Sudbury where the Colts thumped Sudbury 7-3. Dylan Sadowy had two goals while Andrew Mangiapane added a goal and three assists. Kevin Labanc had an assist in the contest, breaking Sheldon Keefe’s single-season point total, notching his 122^nd point
• The Wolves have a record of 16-44-4-1 with 37 points. The team sits last in both the Central Division as well as the Eastern Conference. The Wolves’ PP ranks 17^th at 15.8% while their penalty kill is 16^th at 78.5%
• Mikkel Aagaard leads Sudbury with 50 points which includes 23 goals and 27 assists
• Dmirty Sokolov leads all Sudbury rookies in scoring with 47 points including 27 goals, which lead the Wolves. Sokolov is second in rookie goal scoring behind Mississauga’s Alexander Nylander (28) and is 6^th in rookie scoring
• Kyle Capobianco is Sudbury’s defensive leader as the Arizona Coyotes’ prospect has 40 points in 65 games, good for 12^th in OHL scoring amongst defencemen

Sunday, March 20th @ North Bay Battalion 

• Sunday afternoon will mark the team’s last regular season game as they travel north for a Central Division showdown with the North Bay Battalion. The Colts look to even the season series as the Battalion currently lead it 3-2.
• Their last game took place on January 3^rd where North Bay took it 5-3. Kevin Labanc, Justin Scott and Anthony all scored in the loss
• North Bay has complied a record of 32-23-6-4 with 74 points. The team is 2^nd in the Central Division and 3^rd in the Eastern Conference. The Battalion PP is ranked tied for 7^th at 19.6% and their penalty kill is 8^th at 82%
• North Bay’s best player has been their captain, Mike Amadio. The Los Angeles Kings’ prospect is 4^th in the OHL in goals with 48 and is 8^th in OHL scoring with 94 points
• Cam Dineen has not only been North Bay’s most productive defencemen and rookie but one of the candidates for Rookie of the Year. Dineen is 2^nd in the league for defensive scoring 58 points, trailing only Rasmus Andersson (60) and is second in rookie scoring behind Alexander Nylander (75).
