COLTS TAKE THE PETES IN A SHOOTOUT 4-3
Ivan Telegin scored another three goals Thursday night in Peterborough. The Russian forward scored twice in regulation and sniped the game-winner in the sixth round of the shootout.
Telegin has five goals this week and eleven goals and six assists in his last eleven games.
Colin Behenna also scored for the Colts, while Mathias Niederberger stopped 37 of 40 shots.
Lino Martschini tied the game with 2:49 remaining and sent it to overtime where nothing was solved. In the shootout Mark Scheifele and Daniel Erlich scored key goals to keep their club in the game before Telegin tallied the game-winner.
Barrie opened the scoring in the first period when Telegin pounced on a rebound and beat Andrew D`Agostini. Aaron Ekblad and Anthony Camara assisted on the play.
Moments later it was Colin Behenna scoring his 25th from Scheifele and Tanner Pearson to make it 2-0 Barrie.
The Petes would come back and cut the lead in half on a Peter Ceresnak goal before the first period came to a close.
After a scoreless second frame the Colts regained their two-goal cushion when Steven Beyers and Telegin hooked up on a give-and-go and Telegin roofed a shot off the post and in for his 24th of the year.
Nick Ritchie scored a nice goal to make it 3-2 before Martschini tied the game on the power play.
Niederberger started his 14th straight game and is 10-3-1 in that stretch. Barrie has won nine of their last eleven games and will look to win five straight Friday night in Ottawa.
