COLTS SET TO PLAY THREE IN THREE ON THE ROAD
The Barrie Colts get set to embark on a three game in three night road trip that will take them south of the border with stops in Windsor, Plymouth and Saginaw.
Barrie is in the midst of a stretch that sees them play 14 of 19 games on the road and enter a busy travelling month of November in which they will play just three games on home ice.
The Colts play their next four games on the road, will return for a pair of home games and then set out for another four straight away from the BMC.
On Thursday the Colts will travel to Windsor for a rematch with the Spitfires (8-8-1-1) who were defeated at the BMC 5-1 last Saturday night in a penalty-filled affair that led to suspensions.
The Spitfires will be without Head Coach Bob Boughner and tough guy Ty Bilcke who were each suspended for two games for their actions Saturday night in Barrie.
Windsor has lost six in a row and has started to make some large changes with their club. This week the Spitfires traded defenceman Craig Duininck, forward Tom Kuhnhackl and goalie Jack Campbell.
Barrie will look to their depth and power play to jump on the Spitfires early and take the crowd out of the game in what undoubtedly will be a crazy environment.
Mark Scheifele, Tanner Pearson and Colin Behenna combined for ten points in last Saturday’s game. Scheifele has two goals and eight points in three games since returning from Winnipeg.
On Friday Barrie will travel south to take on the Plymouth Whalers (8-6-0-2) in their first of two meetings this season. The Whalers have eight players with at least ten points led by J.T. Miller with 17 points.
Plymouth has won three of their last four games and just picked up Cody Payne from Oshawa.
Barrie will wrap up their weekend with a Saturday night game in Saginaw against the Spirit (6-10-0-0). After a slow start the Spirit have won five of their last eight games and will be resting until the Colts arrive on Saturday.
Ivan Telegin will make his return to Saginaw after being acquired by the Colts in the off-season. Alex Lepkowski is also a former member of the Spirit, while Mark Scheifele was originally drafted by Saginaw.
Brandon Saad returned from the NHL and has been lighting it up for the Spirit since his return. In eight games the forward has nine goals and nine assists.
