COLTS KICK OFF THEIR WEEK IN OWEN SOUND
The Barrie Colts have just six games remaining on their 2011-12 schedule and are fighting for playoff positioning with just two weeks left in the regular season.
The Colts begin play this week with another Wednesday night battle in Owen Sound, where they were victorious 3-1 last Wednesday.
After losing three straight against Owen Sound to start the year the Colts have come back and won two in a row against their Highway 26 rivals and will look to even the season-series against the fourth placed club in the Western Conference.
Barrie is tied with the Brampton Battalion for third overall in the Eastern Conference and has a game in hand. Brampton plays Tuesday night in Sudbury and the Colts will be hoping the Wolves can do them a favour by knocking off the troops.
Owen Sound has won seven of ten games overall and are tied for fourth in the Western Conference with the Sarnia Sting.
After a Wednesday game in Owen Sound the Colts will return home to face the Sudbury Wolves on Thursday night. Sudbury still has a chance to catch Barrie and Brampton and finish with home ice advantage in the opening round of the 2012 playoffs.
The Wolves are five points back of their division foes and face the Battalion Tuesday night, and play the Colts two more times before the season comes to a close.
The Colts and Wolves will wrap up their season series in Sudbury on Tuesday, March 13th. The Colts have won only two of six games against Sudbury but still have a chance to even the season-series.
Barrie will wrap up their weekend with a home game Saturday night against the Belleville Bulls. It is the only visit all season that the Bulls make to the BMC.
Belleville is currently in a dogfight for one of the final playoff spots. The Bulls and Majors have 63 points each and are in seventh and eighth respectively. They trail the Generals by one point for sixth position, but lead the Petes by only four points.
If the playoffs were to end today the Colts would face the Generals in the opening round.
