COLTS FALL TO MAJORS 4-1
The Barrie Colts ended their regular season Sunday afternoon with a 4-1 loss to the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors.
The Majors (53-13-0-2) finish the season on a ten-game winning streak equipped with a league-high 108 points as they prepare to start the playoffs and eventually host the Memorial Cup.
Justin Shugg and Gregg Sutch both had two points while Mika Partanen, Corey Bureau and Jordan Mayer all scored for the Majors in front of over 4,000 fans at the Hershey Centre.
Mickael Audette stopped 25 of 26 shots and gets his fourth win of the season while giving JP Anderson the night off.
The Majors averaged 12 shots a period on Barrie starter John Chartrand who played for the first time in 16 days. He allowed two goals in the first period, including Shugg’s 41st of the year.
Barrie’s only goal came from Dylan Smoskowitz and cut the Mississauga lead in half late in the second period. Line mates Tanner Pearson and Petr Beranek assisted on Dylan’s 21st of the season.
The Smoskowitz marker was answered by Bureau’s goal that came 1:01 later, as the Majors held Barrie to only five shots in the second stanza.
The Majors scored a power play goal in the third and were 1/4 with the extra attacker. Barrie had five opportunities with an extra man but was unable to beat Audette.
