The Barrie Colts are proud to offer dynamic internship opportunities for motivated students and emerging professionals seeking hands-on experience in hockey operations, media, and community engagement. Interns will work closely with our experienced staff, contribute to live game nights, and gain valuable professional experience in a fast-paced, professional sports environment.
Internships run from November through May each season, and students are encouraged to apply early to secure placement.
Available Internship Opportunities
Communications & Social Media Internship
• The Communications & Social Media Intern will support the Barrie Colts in creating engaging content for all home games, including promotional materials, website updates, and social media posts. This role provides hands-on experience producing professional hockey communications while helping build a strong, dynamic online presence across multiple platforms. Interns will need to be creative, detail-oriented, and able to work under fast-paced game night conditions.
Photography & Videography Internship
• Photography & Videography Interns will capture and curate high-quality visual content at games, events, and community initiatives. This role develops photography and/or videography skills in a professional sports environment, requiring the ability to capture fast-paced action and work collaboratively with the media team. Attention to detail and creativity are essential.
Hockey Operations | Analytics & Highlights Internship
• The Hockey Operations | Analytics & Highlights Intern will work all home games, getting to see how real-time highlights, game recaps, replays, and highlight packs for social media and the website are produced. This role provides hands-on experience in sports analytics, hockey operations, and media content delivery. Interns will need to have strong attention to detail, familiarity with sports production software, and the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
Community Relations Internship
• The Community Relations Intern will support the Barrie Colts Foundation by assisting with community events, outreach programs, season ticket initiatives, and charity game nights. This role develops skills in event planning, public relations, and community engagement, requiring professionalism, strong communication, and the ability to represent the Barrie Colts in a public setting
Hours of Internship:
• 5–6 hours per day, 4 days per week
• Attendance at all home games is required unless otherwise specified
• Flexible scheduling available to accommodate academic commitments
