Colts acquire defenceman Harpur, Bauman from Storm
Barrie, ON– The Barrie Colts announced today that they have completed a trade with the Guelph Storm.
In the deal the Barrie Colts obtain defenceman Ben Harpur and Chadd Bauman from the Guelph Storm.
In exchange the Colts send to the Storm defenceman C.J Garcia, rookie forward Givani Smith, the Colts 2nd round picks in 2017 & 2018, 5th round pick in 2019 and a 10th round pick in 2020.
Ben Harpur was originally drafted by the Guelph Storm in 3rd round, 43rd overall in the 2011 OHL Priority Selection Draft. The fourth year defenceman has appeared in 196 career OHL games, all with Guelph, registering 11 goals and 44 assists for 55 points.
At the 2013 NHL Entry Draft the towering 6’6”, 217lbs defenceman was selected by the Ottawa Senators in the 4th round (108th overall). Harpur leaves the Guelph Storm with 20 points in 28 games this season.
The Colts also acquired defeceman Chadd Bauman who will play for his second OHL team. The Conestogo, Ontario native has played 150 career OHL games tallying 9 goals and 21 points.
The 6’3”, 228lbs defenceman attended the Chicago Blackhawks rookie camp this past summer as a free agent invite. Bauman was drafted by the Storm in the 4th round, 73rd overall in 2011.
