Titan snaps skid against Islanders
Bathurst, NB, Friday,October 23rd, 2015 – The Acadie-Bathurst Titan played host to the Charlottetown Islanders to kick off Rivalry Week in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Fans in attendance were treated to an offensive explosion by the Titan, as the home team skated away with a 6-2 victory.
And with two goals and one assist on the night, Titan forward Vladimir Kuznetsov left little doubt that his team has found a true blue-chip prospect. Indeed, the Russian Tank scored his team’s first two goals before picking up his assist on the insurance marker. Kuznetsov’s efforts were complimented with those of Mark Trickett, he whom completed his night with a goal and two assists. Trickett lit the lamp on the power play, as he fired a slap shot from the blue line that pushed the durability of the netting to its limits. What a way to score the game winning goal!
Between the pipes, Charlottetown goaltender Matthew Welsh turned away 25 shots while the Titan’s masked man, Reilly Pickard, was stellar in pushing aside 30 shots.
Back to the future
A goal scorer the previous evening in Saint John, the Titan’s Antoine Morand not only duplicated his feat, but did so by finding the back of the net in the exact same fashion. Indeed, on both occasions, Morand grabbed the puck on the right side of the ice, cut towards the middle near the net, and with the poise and confidence of a veteran, patiently outwaited the opposing goaltender before sliding the puck into an empty net.
Morand also added an assist as well as four shots on net.
Viel’s validation
With a goal and an assist on the night, Jeffrey Viel of the Titan demonstrated why he is his team’s Swiss army knife, capable of helping his team any way it needs, furthermore adding to those totals four shots on net and two body checks.
And what a perfect night for him to have such an evening, as Viel will be the featured player in the Titan’s passport for their next home game.
Some very important visitors
The Titan wish to thank the 125 kids from the “École Le Tremplin de Tracadie” which came out for the game and supported their team in grand fashion, as it was a pleasure for the players to hear your cheers, as well as for Maximus, whom nearly drowned in your support!
The series’ return game
Mario Pouliot’s men will now travel to Charlottetown on Sunday to face-off against the Islanders for the second half of this home-at-home series. Face-off will be at 3 pm.
Think pink!
The Titan will be back on home ice on Wednesday, October 28th for a match-up against the Halifax Mooseheads. It will be a very significant homecoming for the Titan, as it will be pink jersey night inside the K.C. Irving Regional Centre as to contribute to the battle against breast cancer.
Indeed, Titan players will be wearing their pink jerseys which will also be available for purchase through an auction during the course of the game. Furthermore, the Titan will donate $1 from every ticket sold to the cause.
