QMJHL mourns passing of Guy Rouleau
BOUCHERVILLE, Tuesday, December 9, 2008 The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League is mourning following the passing, on Sunday, of Guy Rouleau, an all-star forward who played four seasons in the major junior hockey circuit with the Longueuil Chevaliers (1982-83 to 1984-85) and the Hull Olympiques (1985-86).
During the course of his major junior career, he collected 543 points in 260 games. He lifted the President Cup in 1985-86 and was named the League’s most valuable player.
Guy Rouleau was inducted into the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Hall of Fame in 2001. His #77 was also retired by the Olympiques.
"I am deeply saddened by this news," said the Commissioner of the QMJHL, Gilles Courteau. "Hockey has lost a great ambassador. My thoughts and prayers as well as my deepest sympathies go out to the entire Rouleau family."
