Videotron Player of the Week | Vsevolod Komarov (March 4, 2024)
The latest player to earn Videotron Player of the Week honors in the QMJHL is Drummondville Voltigeurs defenseman Vsevolod Komarov. In a pair of home games, the 20-year-old from Chelyabinsk, Russia scored three times and added four assists while the Western Conference leading Volts went 1-1-0-0 on the week.
On Friday night, Komarov and crew got to work early and often. By the end of the night, the defenseman had a goal and three assists, including a helper on the eventual game-winner, and the Voltigeurs claimed an 8-2 triumph over the Charlottetown Islanders. The third-year blueliner, who also recoded a +3 rating, was named the game’s first star.
On Sunday afternoon, the Voltigeurs would fall to their rival from down Highway 55, losing 5-3 to the Sherbrooke Phoenix. Despite the setback, Komarov put in another impressive outing, finishing with a pair of goals – scored in a 52-second span during the second period, no less – to go with an assist and a +2 rating. He was named second star for the contest.
Komarov has been a force for Drummondville since his move from the Quebec Remparts on December 4. The current league leader among defensemen with 62 points in 52 games, 43 of those points have come in his 30 contests in a Voltigeurs sweater, as has an outstanding +42 rating. Komarov was selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the fifth round at the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
