QMJHL Player of the Week | Loïc Usereau (Nov. 27, 2023)
The latest Videotron Player of the Week is Chicoutimi Sagueneens defenseman Loïc Usereau. In three games, the 18-year-old from Chateauguay, Quebec scored three times and added four assists as the Sags went a perfect 3-0 on the week.
On Thursday night in Quebec, Usereau produced a pair of third period helpers, including an assist on the eventual game winner, before potting the insurance marker into an empty net for a 6-4 Chicoutimi victory over the Remparts.
The following night in Blainville, Usereau would open the scoring midway through the first period. It would prove to be the game winner as the veteran blueliner added another pair of assists and recorded a +3 rating in a 7-0 Sagueneens whitewash of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.
Usereau and the Sags would cap off their weekend on another winning note at home on Sunday afternoon. Again, he would open the scoring and this time ended the game an impressive +4 while the Sagueneens defeated the Rimouski Oceanic 5-1.
With 18 points in 25 games, Usereau sits tied for sixth in league scoring among defensemen. A free agent invited by the Shawinigan Cataractes in 2021, Usereau, who was dealt to Chicoutimi at the 2023 holiday trade deadline, has already shattered his previous career high of 11 points, set last season.
