Victoriaville Edge Wildcats 3-2
The Wildcats hosted the Victoriaville Tigres tonight for their first of two back-to-back home games before the Christmas break.
It was the Wildcats who were on the board first with a goal by Manuel Wiederer, his 14th of the season. Cam Askew made a perfect pass coming down the wing and Wiederer made no mistake finding the open net for the early lead. Near the end of the first Victoriaville was awarded a penalty shot; Ivan Kosorenkov beat Dom Tmej to tie the game at 1-1 after the opening frame.
In the second Alexandre Goulet scored to put the visitors up by one. Then in the third, Goulet found the back of the net for his second of the night. Moncton was able to add one more midway through the third to cut the lead by one. Kelly Klima notched this 14th of the year, with assists to Kevin Klima and Adam Holwell. Moncton continued to apply pressure right until the end, but were not able to capitalize on the late power play to tie the game.
The Cats are back in action tomorrow as they face the Armada at 4:00 p.m. It’s our Star Wars game, and our custom jersey will be up for bids on Allen’s Auction Centre, all of the proceeds will go to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Moncton.
