Titan go down 2-0 in second round series
CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The Charlottetown Islanders downed the Acadie-Bathurst Titan Monday night in game two of the best-of-five playoff series between the Maritime rivals. The Titan fell 5-1 at the Eastlink Centre in what marked their second loss in as many days to the Islanders. Charlottetown is now leading the series 2-0.
The first period remained scoreless for the majority of the frame, until Brett Budgell scored their first goal of the night at 15:29 on the powerplay to take the lead. Charlottetown then pulled away with three more goals in the second period from Zachary Roy at 4:19, Patrick Guay at 7:18 and Budgell again at 8:36 to take a 4-0 lead over the Titan.
Guay went on to score their fifth and final goal of the night at 3:21 in the third period, while Acadie-Bathurst’s Ben Allison netted the visitors first and only goal of the night at 14:12 on the man advantage.
The series shifts to Bathurst for game three on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre.
