Titan fall to Islanders in overtime
BATHURST, N.B. – The Acadie-Bathurst Titan dropped to 0-1-1-0 on the season with a 2-1 loss to the Charlottetown Islanders in overtime Saturday night.
Charlottetown got on the board first early in the second period as Alexis Michaud scored his first QMJHL goal. Jacob Melanson finished off a tic-tac-toe play with linemates Riley Kidney and Dylan Andrews 20 seconds later to even the score 1-1.
Despite outshooting the Islanders 46-25 in regulation time, the Titan were unable to get another one past Francesco Lapenna. In overtime Islanders captain Keiran Gallant found Patrick Leblanc driving to the net and the 20-year-old beat Jan Bednar to give the visitors a 2-1 victory. In his first start of the season Bednar made 25 saves on 26 shots for the Titan in the loss.
The Titan are right back on the ice tomorrow afternoon when they visit the Moncton Wildcats at the Avenir Centre. Next home game is Wednesday night when the Halifax Mooseheads come to town at 7pm.
