Mooseheads top Titan in first of two-game set
BATHURST – The Halifax Mooseheads handed the Acadie-Bathurst Titan their seventh consecutive loss Friday night. The visiting team defeated the Titan 3-1 at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre.
Following a scoreless first period Halifax defencemen Jake Furlong and Stephen Davis netted the Mooseheads first two goals at 2:17 and 15:37 in the second period to pull away with a 2-0 lead.
Acadie-Bathurst didn’t score their first goal until Liam Kidney’s fourth of the season came at 1:10 of the third period to close the scoring gap. With the clock ticking down Zachary L’Heureux scored an empty net goal at 19:31 to close the game 3-1 for the Mooseheads.
Kidney was the only Titan player to make the three stars of the night as he was named the second star. Despite the loss, the Titan managed to outshoot the Mooseheads 30-27.
The two teams will square off again tomorrow at 4 p.m. at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre.
