TRADE: Sea Dogs acquire Blue Jackets prospect Tyler Peddle
SAINT JOHN – The Saint John Sea Dogs have acquired Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Tyler Peddle from the Drummondville Voltigeurs, the team announced today. In return, the Voltigeurs receive forward Noah Reinhart, the rights to defenceman Anthony Biakabutuka and a 2026 fifth-round pick.
Peddle was the second overall pick in the 2021 QMJHL Draft and has suited up for 165 career games with the Voltigeurs to date. The Antigonish, Nova Scotia product scored 24 goals and added 17 assists last season, earning an invite to the 2023 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game before being drafted by the Blue Jackets at the 2023 NHL Draft in Nashville. Peddle, 18, has six goals and eight assists in 36 games this season.
Reinhart, who joined the Sea Dogs as a free agent ahead of the 2022-23 season, has registered 30 goals and 44 assists in 101 games over the past two years. The Dundas, Ontario native scored 13 goals and added 18 assists in 36 games so far this season.
Biakabutuka was a tenth round selection by Saint John at the 2022 QMJHL Draft and has spent the past two seasons playing prep hockey in the United States.
