TRADE: Sea Dogs acquire 16-year-old Olivier Groulx, second round pick for Elie
SAINT JOHN – The Saint John Sea Dogs have acquired 16-year-old forward Olivier Groulx and a 2024 second round pick from the Shawinigan Cataractes for Vince Elie, the team announced today.
Groulx, a second round pick of Shawinigan in the 2023 QMJHL Draft, sits fourth in the Quebec Under-18 Hockey League in scoring with 14 goals and 24 assists for 38 points in 26 games. The six-foot, 181-pound left winger had six points in six games with Team Quebec at the 2023 Canada Games.
Elie, 18, has spent the past two seasons in Saint John after being drafted in the second round of the 2021 QMJHL Draft. In 102 career games the Montreal, Quebec native totaled 26 goals and 37 assists for 63 points, including 36 points in 37 games this season.
