Sea Dogs sign overage goaltender Patrick Leaver
SAINT JOHN – The Saint John Sea Dogs have signed overage goaltender Patrick Leaver, the team announced on Tuesday.
“We’re very happy to add Patrick to our team,” said Sea Dogs general manager Anthony Stella. “With his CHL and playoff experience, we feel he’s the right person to help mentor our younger goaltenders and take on a leadership role.”
Leaver was originally selected in the eighth round of the 2019 OHL Priority Selection by the Oshawa Generals. The six-foot-one, 185-pound netminder made his OHL debut during the 2021-22 season registering a .908 save percentage and a 3.20 goals-against-average in 49 games.
Last season Leaver suited up in 29 games with the Generals before being traded to the Guelph Storm in January. The Perth, Ontario product went 24-18-1 in 48 games split between Oshawa and Guelph, posting a 3.67 goals-against-average and a .884 save-percentage.
