RECAP: Sea Dogs begin road trip with loss to Armada
BOISBRIAND, QC – The Saint John Sea Dogs began their first Quebec road trip of the season with a 4-1 loss to the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada on Thursday night.
An early goal from Xavier Sarrasin just 1:01 into the game put the home team in front 1-0. The Armada would carry the lead into the first intermission outshooting Saint John 18-13 in the period.
Blainville-Boisbriand captain Jonathan Fauchon converted on the powerplay midway through the second period to double their lead. Saint John finally got on the board six minutes into the third period as Peter Reynold’s team-leading fifth goal of the season made it 2-1. However, a shorthanded marker from Matt Gosselin with under three minutes to play put an end to any comeback hopes the Sea Dogs had and Alexis Bourque capped things off with his sixth of the campaign in the final minutes.
The Sea Dogs will now travel to Val-d’Or where they’ll face off against the Foreurs on Saturday before finishing the weekend in Rouyn-Noranda against the Huskies on Sunday.
