TRADE: Sea Dogs deal Reynolds to Halifax for Fournier, draft pick
SAINT JOHN – The Saint John Sea Dogs have traded captain Peter Reynolds to the Halifax Mooseheads, the team announced today. In return, the Sea Dogs receive forward Brody Fournier and Moncton’s 2025 first-round pick.
Following the trade Saint John now holds six first-round picks over the next three years.
“We’d like to thank Peter for all he’s done for this organization. It’s always special for a New Brunswick player to have this much success and win a Memorial Cup while being so close to home,” said Sea Dogs General Manager Anthony Stella.
Reynolds has 20 goals and 44 points in just 32 games this season, setting career highs in both categories. The Fredericton, New Brunswick native is in his fourth season in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League and was part of the 2022 Memorial Cup championship roster. Reynolds, originally selected 21st overall by the Sea Dogs at the 2019 QMJHL Draft, has totaled 158 points in 166 career games along with seven points in 16 playoff games.
Fournier, 20, is in his second year in the QMJHL after signing with the Mooseheads as a free agent last year. The Lombardy, Ontario native has already matched his career-high with 13 goals and surpassed his point total from last season with 26 in 35 games this season.
“Adding these assets helps us continue to build towards the future and we wish Peter the best of luck in his journey towards winning another cup,” Stella added.
