Olympiques ready for the final stretch
GATINEAU – The atmosphere was quite festive during the Olympiques’ practice on Thursday morning at the Slush Puppie Center.
Louis Robitaille’s team was in preparation for the visit of the Val D’or Foreurs on Friday (January 27) at 7 p.m. It was also an opportunity for the players to fine tune a few things in practice before starting a busy schedule for the last two months of the regular season.
It will also be an opportunity for the Gatineau team to continue their excellent streak as they have recorded 8 wins in their last 10 games. Head coach Louis Robitaille was very proud of the way his players are performing.
“Since December 1st, I think we have two losses in regulation time. Overall, the cohesion and chemistry is starting to settle in. That’s what we want to see going forward. The important thing right now is not to worry about the result, but to play within our identity, and that’s what I feel right now.
For Olivier Nadeau, it is obvious that there will be a period of adaptation. However, the forward believes that the team is about to discover their full potential. “I think we are finding our rhythm right now, especially in the last few games. There are so many talented players here. We still need to experiment with the lineups, but once everyone is in the right chair and the cohesion is there, we’ll be hard to beat.”
Alexis Gendron also had his opinion on how his new lineup should look. “We have different types of players that complement each other on the team. From my side, that’s really what hits me the most about my trio. Nadeau, Kidney and I are three completely different players, and I think that’s what makes us work well together on the ice. It’s really a talented team that complements each other very well.”
The Olympiques will host the Val D’or Foreurs on Friday at 7 p.m., while the Moncton Wildcats will be at the Slush Puppie Centre on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
