Appointment of Captain and Assistants
Live from Val-d’Or, the organization has appointed the new captain and his assistants for the 2020-2021 season.
Manix Landry is named captain of the Gatineau Olympiques. Manix Landry succeeds Charles-Antoine Roy, who was appointed in September 2019, before being exchanged at the Sherbrooke Phoenix at Christmas.
Manix is already in its third campaign with the Olympiques. We’ve seen a remarkable improvement in his game las season. His offensive contribution also made an impressive step by quadrupling his production.
He will be joined by veterans Métis Roelens, an assistant in the last season, and Kyle Havlena, who was acquired from the Cape Breton Eagles in the last draft. In addition to Métis and Kyle, Manix will be able to count on Zach Dean. The young veteran is an important pillar of this team.
“The culture and identity we want to establish with the Olympiques fits perfectly with Manix. He is a hard worker with the logo tattooed on his heart. He will be surrounded very well with Kyle and Métis. Kyle brought maturity to the team and Métis had an impressive experience. As for Zach Dean, he’s as safe as he is on and outside the ice. He wants to get better every day, and that’s what we’re looking for as an athlete. We’re going to have a very strong leadership group. However, I want to remind you that leadership is not the story of 3-4 guys… it’s the work of a complete team”.
