QMJHL releases preseason schedule
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League released the preseason schedule for all 18 teams on Thursday.
To kick off training camp this year, the Islanders will join the other Maritime teams in a Rookie Tournament in Moncton from August 19th to 21st. Being held at the brand new Superior Propane Centre, Charlottetown will take on Acadie-Bathurst on Friday, the 19th, at 1:00 ADT. On Saturday, the 20th, the Islanders rookies will take on Cape Breton’s rookie team at 4:00 ADT.
After each team competes in two round robin games, which will wrap up Saturday night, teams will play Sunday in a standings game to determine the tournament winner.
The following week, returning players will join the rookies and regular training camp will get underway.
On August 24th, the Pownal Sports Centre will play host to the Islanders first preseason game as they battle the Moncton Wildcats at 7:00 ADT.
Charlottetown will then head back to Moncton on August 26th to take on the Wildcats.
The next night, August 27th, they return to the Pownal Sports Centre to play host to the Halifax Moosehead at 3:00 ADT.
To end their first 3-games in 3-days of the season, the Islanders will make the trip to Halifax on August 28th to take on the Mooseheads in the historic Halifax Forum at 3:00 ADT.
In the team’s final preseason road game, the Islanders travel to the largest city in New Brunswick to take on the Saint John Sea Dogs on September 9th at 7:00 ADT.
Charlottetown will finally see action in the friendly confines of the Eastlink Centre on September 10th when the Sea Dogs and Islanders finish off the preseason at 7:00 ADT.
All Charlottetown Islanders exhibition games played in Pownal will be general admission where you will pay at the door. Tickets for the exhibition game at the Eastlink Center will be purchased at the box office but will also be general seating. Each season tickets holder will be able to attend one preseason game free of charge with a voucher that will be in their season ticket booklet.
