QMJHL concludes celebration of Black History Month
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and its franchises are proud to have celebrated the contributions and stories of the Black community throughout February as part of Black History Month. By sharing their stories across our digital and social media platforms, we were able to highlight many of the individuals who helped pave the way for hockey to become a more diverse and inclusive sport.
“Our initiatives during Black History Month are part of a bigger plan to promote diversity and inclusion within our league and our sport,” said Maxime Blouin, QMJHL Director of Communications and Media Relations. “There is no reason why hockey shouldn’t be a mirror of our society and include a growing number of men and women from the black community and the LGBTQ+ community. Their voices and commitment to the sport continue to move the game forward. We must continue to create new opportunities and encourage positive change within our communities.”
