CHL to NHL: Firebirds alumnus Lombardi makes NHL debut with Devils
Former Flint Firebird Amadeus Lombardi made his NHL debut last night for the New Jersey Devils.
In a 3-2 overtime win for the Devils at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, Lombardi played 8:03.
A native of Newmarket, Ontario, Lombardi played for the Firebirds from 2021-2023, where he scored 63 goals to go along with 98 assists in 134 OHL contests, including a 102-point season in 2022-23. He added 12 goals and 10 assists in 26 playoff games, during which he helped the Firebirds to the seventh game of the 2021-22 Western Conference Finals.
Selected in the fourth round, 113th overall, by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, Lombardi played three seasons with the Grand Rapids Griffins, Detroit’s American Hockey League affiliate, before being traded to the Devils this offseason. He had consecutive 40-point seasons in the past two AHL campaigns.
