Mooseheads’ Anthony Terenzio Named Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week
Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that rookie Anthony Terenzio of the Halifax Mooseheads is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending December 19. Terenzio, the second straight rookie netminder to win this award, posted three victories including a shutout win and an impressive goals-against-average of 0.860 and save percentage of .971.
Terenzio earned his first career shutout Wednesday night making 27 saves as first star of the game blanking the Acadie-Bathurst Titan 5-0. He got the call to start again on Friday night in Moncton and turned aside 32 shots as third star of a 3-2 win over the Wildcats. On Saturday night against the Titan, Terenzio entered the game in relief early in the third period and made nine saves helping the Mooseheads grab a 5-4 win.
Terenzio, a 17-year-old from Norwalk, Connecticut, was selected by the Mooseheads in the sixth round of the QMJHL Draft. He leads all QMJHL rookie goalies with a 3.05 goals-against-average and .896 save percentage in 18 games so far this season.
Tyler Bunz of the Medicine Hat Tigers was also considered for the award after winning two games including a shutout victory with a goals-against-average of 0.500 and save percentage of .984. Philipp Grubauer of the Kingston Frontenacs earned a shutout victory turning aside all 32 shots Friday night as first star of a 4-0 win over the Belleville Bulls.
