GIANTS TO ASSIST IN HURRICANE KATRINA RELIEF EFFORT – The Vancouver Giants are going to do their part in helping raise funds for those people affected by Hurricane Katrina along the U.S. Gulf Coast.

rThe Giants are partnering with the Vancouver Chapter of the Salvation Army to make a substantial donation to the Salvation Army Relief Fund that will go towards helping those who need it in the southern United States.

rAt the Giants regular season home opener on Friday September 30 against the Prince George Cougars (7:30pm), the Giants organization will donate one dollar from every ticket sold for that game. Members of the Salvation Army will also be on site at the Pacific Coliseum to take donations.

rWUTZKE COMMITS TO AMERICANS

rKennewick, WA – Tri-City Americans today are proud to announce the signing of
r15-year-old center Cody Wutzke to a WHL education contract.
r
rThe 6’1″, 210 pound native of Aberdeen, Saskatchewan was the Americans fifth
rround selection 87th overall) in the 2005 WHL Bantam Draft in May. With the
rsigning the team has now signed its top three picks from the 2005 Bantam Draft.
r
rWutzke will remain with the team and appear in the Red Lion Hotel Pre-Season
rTournament Friday, September 9th through Sunday, September 11th in the Coliseum.
r
rThe tournament features the Spokane Chiefs, Seattle Thunderbirds, Portland
rWinter Hawks and the Vancouver Giants.
r
rThe Americans also announced today that 17-year-old defenseman Kyle Breen of
rWinnipeg, Manitoba has been assigned to the Selkirk Steelers of the Manitoba
rJunior Hockey League effectively immediately.
