rThe Wheat Kings beat the Warriors 7-3 on Friday in Brandon to claim a 1-0 series lead. Jeff Tolpiko scored three goals while Ryan Stone chipped in four assists in the victory.

rRiley Holzapfel scored a goal and added an assist for the Warriors in Friday’s defeat. Jordan Henry and Stuart Kerr also tallied for the Warriors on Friday.

rThe series moves to Moose Jaw for game 3 on Wednesday.

rElsewhere on Easter Sunday, the Medicine Hat Tigers host the Red Deer Rebels in game 2 of their Central division first-round match-up.

rThe Tigers claimed a 1-0 series lead with last night’s 3-2 victory over the Rebels. Brett Robertson scored the winning goal while Gord Baldwin chipped in a goal and an assist.

rThe Rebels, down 0-1 in the series, got tallies from Ty Morris and Roman Wick in last night’s defeat. Red Deer managed to hold the Tigers scoreless on five power play opportunities Friday night.

rThe series moves to Red Deer for game 3 on Tuesday.

rIn other action, the Portland Winter Hawks welcome the Everett Silvertips in game 2 of their first-round series.

rThe Hawks earned a 1-0 series lead with Friday’s 3-0 blanking of the ‘Tips in Portland. Brandon Dubinsky led the way for the Hawks with a pair of goals and an assist in the win. Blake Grenier made 20 saves for the shutout.

rMike Wall stopped 31 shots for the Silvertips, who consequently find themselves down 0-1 in the series.
