TAYLOR CLOSES IN ON IRONMAN MILESTONE – Adam Taylor of the Kootenay Ice is on pace to tie former Edmonton Oil King Terry McDonald for second place for the most consecutive regular-season games played.

rThe 20-year-old Taylor, who hails from Courtenay, B.C., has played in 268 straight contests for the Ice, dating back to the 2000-01 season. If he dresses for Kootenay’s final 21 games of the season, Taylor will equal McDonald’s ironman streak of 289 consecutive games.

rTaylor was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2002 and was a member of Kootenay’s Memorial Cup championship team that same year.

rThe WHL record for most consecutive games played belongs to Dwayne Newman, who played 311 straight contests with the Brandon Wheat Kings and the Victoria Cougars.

rBUCYK TO TAKE IN BLAZERS’ GAME TUESDAY NIGHT

rKAMLOOPS, BC – Hockey Hall of Famer John Bucyk will be on hand to make a rare appearance at Sport Mart Place for tomorrow night’s Blazers-Chiefs game.
r
rBucyk, who played 23 seasons in the NHL with Detroit and Boston between 1955 and 1978, will be available to sign autographs as he assists Canada Post in promoting their latest series of Hockey Heroes stamps. Bucyk is featured on one of those stamps and will be signing autographs before the game and in the first and second intermissions on the Sport Mart Place concourse.

rBucyk played in 1540 NHL games, scoring 556 goals and 1369 points, winning Stanley Cups with the Bruins in 1970 and 1972. He was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1981.

r-Regina Pats head coach Curtis Hunt has been fined $250.00 for receiving a game misconduct at Prince Albert on January 28.

r-Swift Current Broncos head coach Dean Chynoweth has been suspended for two games and been fined $500.00 for receiving a gross misconduct versus Kootenay on January 28. One game of the suspension has been served with one game remaining.
