WHL TUESDAY NIGHT RECAP – Clarke MacArthur scored two goals – including the game-winner – to lead the Medicine Hat Tigers to a 5-1 win over the visiting Brandon Wheat Kings in one of three Western Hockey League contests Tuesday night.

rDavid Schlemko scored once and added a pair of assists for the Tigers while Jarret Lukin and Stefan Meyer each tallied a goal and an assist in the win. The victory improves the Tigers to 28-14-3-2 and moves them into a tie with Lethbridge for first in the Central division.

rEric Fehr scored the lone goal – his 40th of the season – for the Wheat Kings in the loss. The defeat leaves Brandon at 24-16-5-1 but they remain firmly in second spot in the East division.

rElsewhere last night, Dion Phaneuf scored on a third-period power play to lift the Red Deer Rebels to a 3-2 win over the visiting Calgary Hitmen.

rRoman Wick tallied a goal and an assist for the Rebels while Andrew Leslie stopped 22 of 24 shots for the victory. The win improves the Rebels to 24-16-4-4 and moves them into a tie with the Hitmen for third in the Central division.

rRiley Merkley and Keegan Dansereau scored for the Hitmen in the defeat. The loss drops the Hitmen to 24-17-6-2 and leaves them deadlocked with the Rebels for third in the Central division.

rIn Spokane last night, Aaron Gagnon scored the winner as the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds beat the Chiefs 4-2.

rMitch Fadden scored twice for the T-Birds while Gavin McHale made 19 saves for the victory. The win snaps the Thunderbirds’ season-high two-game losing skid, improving them to 32-13-0-1 and keeping them atop the U.S. division.

rMichael Grabner tallied a goal and an assist for the Chiefs while Dan Mercer also scored in a losing effort. The defeat drops the Chiefs to 16-22-8-1 but they remain fourth in the U.S. division.
