WHL GRAD KYLE ROSS NAMED ATHLETE OF WEEK

Saskatchewan Huskies captain Kyle Ross helped his team to a weekend sweep over the Alberta Golden Bears with four goals and one assist.

Ross, a fifth-year forward from Regina, scored the #5 Huskies second goal on the power play at 1:06 in the second period in a 5-3 win over the Golden Bears Friday. He also added an assist on the game winning goal at 10:32 in the third period.

In Saturday’s 5-4 win, the Law student tallied a hat trick scoring at 7:27 in the first, 26 seconds into the second period and at 13:46 in the second. All three goals were scored on the power play.

It was the first time the Huskies have swept the #4 Alberta Golden Bears since a series in Saskatoon in 2006-07.

Ross and the Huskies, now ranked #3, travel to Winnipeg to face the #9 Manitoba Bisons, January 20-21.
