Giants prospect Primerano set to suit up for Canada in three-game series with United States
Hockey Canada recently unveiled its National Women’s Under-18 roster that will take part in a three-game series against the United States running from August 16-19 in Lake Placid, N.Y. The announcement came prior to the final game of the 2023-24 National Women’s U18 Summer Showcase Camp held in St. Catharines, Ont.
Of the 22 women selected to represent Canada in Lake Placid, will be Vancouver Giants prospect and North Vancouver, B.C. product, Chloe Primerano.
Congratulations to Giants draft pick Chloe Primerano for being named to @HockeyCanada's National Women’s Under-18 roster for their upcoming series against the United States!
The 16-year-old defender is one of just five 2007-born skaters on the team.

Last May, Primerano made Western Hockey League history when she was selected in the 13th round, 268th overall during the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft — becoming the first woman in history to be selected in the WHL Prospects Draft.
With the 268th-overall selection in the 2022 #WHLDraft, the @WHLGiants select Chloe Primerano of @BWCAcademy.

Primerano’s historic accomplishment did not stop inside the confines of the WHL, however.
The 16-year-old also became the first woman skater selected in any Canadian Hockey League selection draft.
At the time, Primerano was just the fourth woman to be picked at a CHL draft — joining the trailblazing trio of goaltenders, Charline Labonté (Acadie-Bathurst Titan), Jenny Lavigne (Rimouski Oceanic), and Taya Currie (Sarnia Sting).
Following in the footsteps of Primerano, Morgan Stickney became the second woman and first woman goaltender to be selected during a WHL Prospects Draft. Stickney — a native of Redondo Beach, Calif. — was selected in the 10th round, 215th overall by the Portland Winterhawks at the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft.
Since her selection at the draft, the 16-year-old Primerano travelled east of North Vancouver where she spent the 2022-23 season with the RINK Hockey Academy Female U18 Prep team in Kelowna, B.C.
In her 30 games logged with RINK, the blueliner recorded 20 goals and 48 points. The feat was enough the land her first in points among her teammates and fourth across all CSSHL Female U18 Prep scorers — and all in her debut season with the prep school, no less.
Most recently, Primerano took part in the 2023-24 NWU18T Summer Showcase Camp as a member of Team Canada White en route to securing her spot on the National Women’s U18 team. In her four-game showcase, she recorded two goals and five points.
Primerano will make her National Women’s U18 debut on Wednesday, August 16 when Canada takes on the United States (1 p.m. MT / 3 p.m. ET).
Following the three-game series with the United States, Primerano will head home to Vancouver as she is expected to take part in her second training camp with the Giants, beginning August 31.
