FRIDAY’S WHL PLAYOFF ROUND-UP
ROCKETS AND WHEAT KINGS ADVANCE – Marek Tvrdon scored two goals to pace the Kelowna Rockets to a 4-1 win over the visiting Tri-City Americans in Game 5 of their Western Conference first-round match-up in WHL playoff action on Friday.
With the game 5 win, the Rockets eliminate the Americans four games to one in the best-of-seven series and advance to the second round of the 2014 WHL playoffs.
Rourke Chartier had a goal and an assist while Jordon Cooke made 29 saves to backstop the Rockets to the series-clinching win. Parker Bowles scored the only goal for the Americans, who see their season come to an end.

SILVERTIPS 6, THUNDERBIRDS 1
Jujhar Khaira scored three goals and four points as the Everett Silvertips blasted the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds 6-1 in Game 4 of their Western Conference opening-round series on Friday. Brayden Low and Josh Winquist each scored and set up another as the Silvertips keep themselves alive in the series.

WHEAT KINGS, 5, PATS 1
John Quenneville scored and set up two more while Jayce Hawryluk and Jesse Gabrielle each netted a goal and an assist as the Brandon Wheat Kings downed the visiting Regina Pats 5-1 in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference first-round series on Friday.
The victory sees the Wheat Kings complete a four-game sweep of the Pats in their best-of-seven series, and advance to the second round of the playoffs.
