Canada Upends Sweden at Jr. World Cup
WIN IMPROVES CANADIANS TO 2-0 IN ROUND-ROBIN – Canada’s national Under-18 team skated to a 4-1 victory over Sweden in round-robin action on Wednesday at the 2006 Jr. World Cup in Piestany, Slovakia.

rBrett Sonne of the Calgary Hitmen – with his second of the tournament – tallied the game-winner in the second period for Team Canada while defenseman Nick Ross of the Regina Pats and forward Colton Gilles of the Saskatoon Blades each added third period goals to ensure the win.

rKyle Turris got the Canadians on the board after Sweden opened the scoring. Tyler Ennis of the Medicine Hat Tigers chipped in an assist on Turris’ tally.

rGoaltender Trevor Cann of the Peterborough Petes turned aside 20 of 21 shots to pick up the victory.

rThe victory over Sweden improves Canada to 2-0 in round-robin action at the Jr. World Cup. Canada opened the tournament with a 5-3 victory over Switzerland on Tuesday.
