Wild add veteran forward Ty Coupland in deal with Blazers
Wenatchee, Wash. — The Wenatchee Wild have acquired 2007-born forward Ty Coupland in a trade with the Kamloops Blazers.
The deal sees the Blazers take Wenatchee’s sixth-round pick in the 2027 WHL Prospects Draft.
Coupland, a 5-foot-11, 170-pound winger, has one assist in five games to start 2026-27 and is closing in on several major milestones.
The North Vancouver, B.C. product was originally drafted by the Swift Current Broncos with the 42nd overall pick in the second round of the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft.
He suited up for parts of three seasons in Saskatchewan, amassing 24 goals and 29 assists in 98 regular-season games, before being traded to the Red Deer Rebels midway through the 2024-25 campaign.
Coupland provided a strong scoring touch in the Central Division before being snapped up by Kamloops at the 2026 WHL Trade Deadline.
The 19-year-old owns 46 goals and 60 assists for 106 points in 194 career regular-season matches.
Notably, he erupted for a four-goal, one-assist effort for the Rebels in a 10-2 thrashing of the Kelowna Rockets on March 1, 2025, and netted another hat trick for the Broncos in a 6-3 win against the Saskatoon Blades on October 4, 2024.
Wenatchee (2-5-1-0) boasts the WHL’s best penalty kill (91.3%) and ranks as one of the stingiest teams, but is trying to build up its scoring punch.
The Wild host the Penticton Vees (4-4-0-1) on Friday, October 16, for a 7:00 p.m. PT puck drop at the Town Toyota Center.
